17. Troubleshooting
The plugin menu is missing#
Check that the folder is installed here:
X-Plane/Resources/plugins/NextATC/
Then open X-Plane/Log.txt and search for NextATC. The log usually states why a plugin did not load.
No ATC actions appear#
Check these points:
- The plugin is started.
- The aircraft has electrical power and a working COM radio.
- You are tuned to the correct Delivery, Ground, Tower, Approach, or Center frequency for the current phase.
- The Frequency Box is not intercepting your
Handoffpress. - The Radio Log is enabled or visible.
Handoff tunes a frequency instead of pressing Readback#
If the Frequency Box is open, it has priority. Close it or click the Radio Log to move focus, then press Handoff again.
The departure runway or SID is not what I expected#
The departure selector defaults from airport data, wind, flows and aircraft context. Choose another runway directly in the flight plan dialog; the following dialog selects only the SID for that fixed runway.
No SID or STAR is found#
The selected runway, route endpoint, procedure data, or cruise altitude may not match a usable procedure. Use Don't use SID or Don't use STAR, or adjust the route so the first/last enroute fix connects to a published procedure.
Taxi guide does not appear#
Enable Draw taxi guide on ground. The guide appears only when the plugin has a valid ground route for the current phase. Some airports have incomplete taxi networks; the plugin attempts fallbacks, but not every scenery package exposes usable route data.
ATC keeps correcting altitude#
Check your altimeter setting and transition level. Above transition altitude, use standard pressure. Below transition level, use the local QNH/altimeter as instructed. Also check whether SID/STAR restrictions are enabled.
TTS is silent#
Check:
Read ATC messages (TTS)is enabled.- Your operating system has a usable voice.
- Voice Roles contains valid voice names if you use custom voices.
- Azure key/region are valid if Azure TTS is enabled.
Traffic is not visible#
Traffic can come from an external TCAS publisher or the built-in Traffic engine. Check the engine and its initial acceptance dialog for built-in aircraft; check the external publisher for observed TCAS aircraft. See Traffic.
Random flight does not start#
Check that at least one region is enabled in Options and that the selected regions contain suitable airports. You can always file manually from the flight plan dialog if you want to choose the route yourself.
